ABOUT ME - ELAINE STUBBS

Soon after being born in Reading we moved to Plymouth, where my parents ran a large bed and breakfast for some years. At the age of 12 our family moved to a small zoo in Plymouth, where my father then became the manager of the zoo. The entire family lived and worked on the premises.

I played a very active part in the hand-rearing of 17 lion cubs and a tiger cub. This was such a great experience, which I shall never forget. We kept one of the lion cubs in the house as a pet until it was 12 months old. Her name was Lulu (pictured further on).
